Creative Update and My Marie!

2011 has been a very busy year so far. It seems like my art figures are becoming more complicated and taking much longer to complete.

I suppose that stands to reason though. I've been working on my very first ball jointed doll, she's one of a kind from polymer clay and she's had three limb and joint revisions!

Geesh! I have finished my latest piece I call, Marie, The Clock Makers Wife.

She's been a real pleasure to complete, I'm just really glad she's done. The cupids are sculpted as well as the clock out of wooden pieces.

Hope you like her!

I'm now focusing 100 % on my bjd. Images of her soon.

Best & Blessings,

Tae

New Doll from the Land of Alora!

Here is a new girl finished recently I wanted to show off. She's holding that darling baby ready for dreams.

There is a poem that reminds me of this figure, it goes like this:

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow,
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow,
So quiet down cobwebs, and dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

I've also crafted a jointed flocked bear that goes along with the dolls. Also, I've made a minature

quilt that reminds me of my grandmother.

Hope you like this new figure!

Best and Blessings,

Tae Alora

For the very first time I will be exhibiting at the IDEX Show in Orlando FL from Jan 27-30, 2011. I will be sharing a table with other artist members of the International Art Doll Registry.

I am bringing 4 of my art doll creations from 2010 and a brand new work to be finished this weekend! My latest piece is my interpretation of Wynken, Blynken and Nod. This nursery poem by Eugene Field has always been one of my favorites. As a mother of four sons, I really can relate to the little dutch boys in the trundle bed boat. My work is created upon an antique wooden dutch shoe, complete with sail and silver and gold nets for the herring fish. My three boys are clothed in knickers and are each individual and one of a kind. I can hardly wait to see it finished.

My other show pieces are from 2010, Mahalo Leilani, an island princess, Red Shoes, a little dutch girl with red shoes and red tulips, Keeping the Queen, my black queen with her blue dragon, and Miss Lavender, a spritely faerie. You can see images of all of these art dollls in the available section of this site. I'll be posting the final pictures of Wynken, Blynken and Nod just as soon as I make the final touches.

So, if you plan to attend the IDEX show, (and it is a good one!) please stop by booth 322 in the main convention hall and say "Hello'!

Best and Blessings,

Tae Alora

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod (Dutch Lullaby)
by Eugene Field (1850-1895)

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
   Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
   That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
                     Said Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
   Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
   Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
   Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
   Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
   Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
   Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.
