So Proud to Be Published!

I wanted everyone to check out the February, May and June 2010 issues of my favorite magazine, Doll Crafter & Costuming.

I have recently been asked to create several articles on the creation of OOAK polymer clay figurines. My lastest contributions are found in the May and June issues, with my article titled In the Beginning, the Creation of a OOAK Doll. I had a wonderful time creating my version of Eve and photographing her progress step by step. I have real admiration for all those artists who create tutorials frequently as the progess is time consuming and requires lots of thought as to just how to present the process effectively.

Also check out my very first article, Crafting the Dream, Creating the Elemental Allegory Base. Late in 2009 I had a wonderful late night inspiration to create a special project of four dolls representing the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I wanted all four to stand on the same base together and complement each other.

I documented my process (since many brand new ideas and materials were used) by journaling and taking photos. Once completed, I found I had a story. I thought others might be interested in just how it was made so I submitted it to Doll Crafter & Costuming magazine, and low and behold, they liked it enough to publish!

That was a very exciting moment.

My art work has been featured in the Gallery images very frequently, when I have a doll who represents the monthly topic, but the reading words and images of my own published articles was a really amazing moment.

It was so much fun, I know I'll be submitting more in the future!
